Berlin-Icthyosaur State Park to reopen May 11

CARSON CITY – A road and park improvement project that closed Berlin-Icthyosaur State Park last summer is done and the park will reopen for visitors May 11.
State Parks officials said the new roadway, which was the focal point of the rehab project, will allow safe travel through Union Canyon year-round and prevent damage to the area during storms.
The roadways were also widened to fit two passing vehicles, providing safer access to the park via the Fossil House and Union Canyon roads. Five new low water crossings and a new guardrail were also installed.
At the Fossil House, a new retaining wall will prevent erosion from encroaching on the building.
