Executive director of Nevada Gaming Control Board resigns
CARSON CITY — The resignation of Sandra Douglass Morgan, chairwoman and executive director of the Nevada Gaming Control Board, was announced Friday in a statement from Gov. Steve Sisolak. Morgan was appointed to a four-year term in the role by Sisolak in January 2019.
According to a statement from the governor’s office, Douglass Morgan is leaving effective Nov. 6 to “pursue an exciting professional opportunity.” That opportunity, as reported by the Nevada Independent, begins Nov. 9 on the board of directors for Fidelity National Financial.
Prior to leading the Nevada GCB, Douglass Morgan had served on the commission through an appointment by Gov. Brian Sandoval in April 2018.
Sisolak said that Douglass Morgan led Nevada’s gaming industry “through one of the most turbulent periods in its history,” most recently helping casinos navigate reopening during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Governor plans to announce his selected appointment to fill the seat in the near future, but no timeline has been established.
