Help available for home energy costs

CARSON CITY–A new infusion of federal funding to the state’s Energy Assistance Program will help Nevada residents who have fallen behind on their heating or cooling bills.
Distributed through the Division of Welfare and Supportive Services, Energy Assistant Program funds provide a one-time benefit to households. The payment is usually paid directly to the energy provider to either catch up on late payments or reduce bills overall.
People eligible for the funds must be U.S. citizens, live in Nevada, be at or below 150% of the federal poverty level, and be responsible for paying home energy costs.
