CARSON CITY – Officials from the Nevada Division of State Parks are encouraging Nevadans to get snapping this summer—photos, that is. This year’s America’s State Parks Photo Contest is accepting entries through July 31 highlighting state park adventures from across the country.

The photo contest, now in its fifth year, focuses on real-life moments in state parks and includes contest categories for camping, wildlife, activities, friends and family, and scenic and seasons. Each year thousands of entries are submitted across the five categories.

Visitors to Nevada State Parks won back-to-back grand prizes the first two years of the contest with photos of Ward Charcoal Ovens State Historic Park in 2017 and Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park, Sand Harbor in 2018.

Those wins have affirmed what Nevada State Park officials already believed: Nevada’s parks are the perfect places to take great photos.

“Nevada’s 27 State Parks are an outdoor enthusiast’s paradise, offering premier recreational opportunities, epic stories, historic treasures, and inspiring vistas spanning every geographic region of our great state,” said Bob Mergell, Administrator for the Nevada Division of State Parks. “We are thrilled that our residents and visitors continue to bring the spirit of Nevada’s State Parks to life by sharing their memories through their own creative lenses.”

Anyone can enter by creating an account at stateparksphotocontest.org. Once registered, they’ll choose one of the five categories, select the location, and upload their best photos before July 31, 2021. Winners will receive a total of $5,000 in prizes, with the grand prize consisting of an “Ultimate Camping Package.”
