Nevada Guard to host Flag Day ceremony in Carson City

CARSON CITY — The Nevada National Guard on June 14 will host its annual Flag Day Ceremony at the Veterans Memorial on the Carson City Capitol Grounds. The celebration begins at 10 a.m.
The 24th annual event will also celebrate the U.S. Army’s 247th birthday. The U.S. Army was authorized by the Continental Congress on June 14, 1775, two years before its members passed the Flag Act to approve the nation’s stars and stripes flag.
The free event includes a historical flag presentation and Army birthday cake. Carson City Mayor Lori Bagwell and Nevada National Guard Brig. Gen. Michael Peyerl will be on hand to deliver remarks.
