PHOTOS: Caldor Fire rages toward Lake Tahoe

The Caldor Fire continues advancing into the Lake Tahoe Basin. Fire activity overnight was active after South Lake Tahoe residents had to evacuate the region.
Overnight fire activity remained active throughout the northeastern and eastern areas of the fire due to poor humidity recovery. A red flag warning remains in effect through 11:00 p.m. on 9/1/21.
The USDA Forest Service also announced a temporary closure of nine National Forests. This closure will be effective on August 22, 2021 through September 6, 2021.
