BERLIN – Nevada’s Berlin-Ichthyosaur State Park will close April 29 for a road improvement project that’s expected to take most of the summer to complete. Park officials said the closure includes the ghost town, campground, picnic area and fossil shelter.

Work is planned for the Fossil House and Union Canyon roadways, to include restoration, resurfacing, rehabilitation and reconstruction. Officials said they’ll also be widening the roads, working on erosion control measures placing new guardrails.

Funding for the project comes from the Federal Lands Access Program grant, which supplements state and local resources for, among other things, public roads with an emphasis on high-use recreation sites and economic generators.
