LAS VEGAS—A new scholarship opportunity opens Nov. 1 for immigrant students who hope to attend University of Nevada, Las Vegas. The university is partnering with TheDream.US to provide scholarships for students who are DREAMers who have DACA or temporary protected status, or who came to the country before Nov. 1, 2016, before the age of 16, and otherwise meet the DACA eligibility criteria.

UNLV and TheDream.US estimate ten Nevada students will be awarded the scholarship for the 2022-2023 school year.

“For many immigrant students, federal student aid is not an option, so alternate forms of aid, such as scholarships, play a vital role in helping these students achieve their full educational potential,” said Juanita P. Fain, UNLV’s vice president for student affairs and interim chief diversity officer.

The national scholarship program is intended for first-time college students or community college graduates who are attending UNLV to earn a bachelor’s degree. Students who earn the award receive funding to cover tuition and fees up to $33,000.

The deadline for students to apply for the scholarship is Feb. 28, 2022. Visit https://www.thedream.us/scholarships/national-scholarship/ for application information.
