UNR medical school offers free health clinics
RENO — University of Nevada, Reno’s School of Medicine this spring will offer a series of student and rural outreach clinics to provide free medical care to people who are uninsured, without a social security number, or who do not have adequate insurance coverage.
Outreach clinics are scheduled for April, May and June in Reno, Yerington, Lovelock and Silver Springs.
COVID-19 vaccines are not available at any of the clinics, and services vary between Reno clinics and rural clinics.
Reno student outreach clinics offer flu vaccinations, gynecological and women’s health services, vasectomies and pediatric services, along with general physicals, blood pressure monitoring, cholesterol checks and lab services. Free Mirena IUDs are also available through new grant funding.
The rural outreach clinics have a more trimmed down selection of services, but do include general physicals, flu vaccinations, women’s health services, bloodwork, blood pressure and diabetes services.
Appointments are not required, but can be made by calling 775-391-0632 or emailing studentoutreachclinic@med.unr.edu. Face masks are required.
