CARSON CITY — The USDA Rural Development Program this week announced a $9.6 million investment in Nevada businesses to help spur new business and grow existing businesses. The investment is part of a $640 nationwide investment covering 122 projects.

In Nevada, the Ely-based Rural Nevada Development Corporation will use a $250,000 loan to support efforts in offering microloans to small businesses and entrepreneurs in rural Nevada. Mesquite-based Manas Mq LLC, working with their lender, will use a loan guarantee program to purchase a hotel in Mesquite to increase job opportunities.

“The two investments we’re announcing today are different from each other in program and purpose, however they represent the interest USDA has in ensuring Nevada’s rural economy thrives,” said Ingvoldstad. “Whether investing in entrepreneurship for new business or the growth of an existing one, we celebrate the economic strength of innovators and pacesetters in our small communities.”
